The Techfugees Challenge

Building a sustainable ecosystem of technological solutions for and with refugees. That is the global mission of Techfugees and the goal of the Nairobi Hackathon held next week at iHub. It is the first Techfugees’ hack on the African continent.
Throughout these 3 days, all actors will oversee the power of technology for helping solving one of the 5 priority areas of work of Techfugees (employment, education, access to rights and information, social inclusion, health).

THE CHALLENGE
The Kenya Red Cross are looking for innovative solutions to enable local health workers and community leaders to provide early health warnings and avert more serious health problems in Kakuma refugee camp.
Thirty developers, designers, engineers will be split into different teams and hack for two-full days within iHub spaces in order to prototype the most efficient and adapted tech solution. The project will then be pitched in front of a jury panel and the winner receives the amazing opportunity of a year-mentorship with the KRC innovation team to further develop their product. Participants will also have the chance to be mentored by Google senior developers and Oracle team of engineers.
