The 3rd edition of Devcraft returns this year. DevCraft is a conference for and by designers and software developers that was curated by the iHub Consultancy team in 2016, with the aim of raising the quality of the software craft in Kenya. The conference pools together some of the brightest minds in the local tech ecosystem to network, share their knowledge and learn from industry experts over the course of 2 days.
The 1st & 2nd edition of Devcraft sold out early both attracting more than paying 250 attendees over the course of two days. The audience comprised of software engineers, project managers, product managers, quality assurance experts and UI/UX experts in Nairobi, Kenya. Devcraft attracts a wide range of speakers during the keynote, talks, panel sessions and workshops. We have been honored to have Wambui Kinya, Chief Strategy Officer at Andela and Sam Gikandi, CEO at Africa’s Talking as our keynote speakers on the 1st edition of Devcraft while Caine Wanjau, CTO Twiga Foods and Dr. Chao Mbogo, Dean, School of Science and Technology at Kenya Methodist University as keynote speakers on the 2nd edition of Devcraft. We have had engaging panel sessions covering topics such as Diversity in Software Development, The changing developer marketplace, The gap between school and Industry and Blockchain and its applications, Old school tech – how it was in the beginning, Applications of AI, ML and Data Science in Kenya and many others .
This year’s conference will be held on 26th September in Nairobi and will focus on the following themes: Advancements in AI & Machine learning, Blockchain; beyond cryptocurrencies, Demystifying Frontend programming technologies; progressive web, GraphQL etc, Product development trends, Convergence of academic research & tech, Adoption of IoT; enterprise vs startups, Data science for development, Technological congruence & economic growth, Skills matching methodologies by startups, Digital Content uptake enablers. This year’s schedule promises to be even more engaging!
