Purpose of the Position
4G is looking for an IT Infrastructure and Support Manager to lead 4G’s systems administration department through significant growth over the coming years. The IT Infrastructure and Support Manager will take ownership over our internal tech support processes, systems administration, network administration, and security administration activities, helping to optimize 4G employees’ connectivity, security, performance and satisfaction with our deployed hardware and software portfolio.
Responsibilities and Duties
Structure and manage the day to day operations of 4G’s internal Tech Support team
Oversee Tech Support team in installing and configuring new hardware and software on 4G laptops, desktops, workstations, and mobile devices
Analyse third party operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes and work with Tech Support team to oversee their implementation on 4G laptops, desktops, and mobile devices
Streamline process for tech support team to answer 4G internal technical questions, assist users with technology requests, and troubleshoot any reported network or hardware related problems
Oversee Tech Support team in adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords, and etc. for 4G internal systems
Manage third party relationships with integrated service providers, such as telco platforms/sms gateway providers and mobile wallet providers
Configure and document 4G network systems both at centralized HQ offices and field offices, and ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running to meet 4G SLAs
Analyse system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems, complete system performance tuning
Plan and oversee training users on new hardware, software, or third-party systems to impacted 4G team members
5+ years as a Systems Administrator within medium to large organizations in Kenya, with 3+ years of leading technical support or system administration teams preferred. Experience as a Systems Administrator for multinational organizations a plus.
Proven experience building internal technical support team processes and teams, excellence in recruiting and retaining technical support team processes within fast paced organizations.
Proven experience leading network configuration and administration for both large Nairobi-based headquarter/’hub’ offices and field ‘spoke’ offices in rural areas.
Strong awareness of current computer and network security best practices, including the administration of security devices such as firewalls and other general security measures.
Excellent customer orientation, with experience developing and leading rollout plans and training activities for new employee hardware or software.
Experience leading the fair evaluation of multiple third-party hardware, software, or network providers, which has led to best in class vendors, infrastructure, and software selected for the organization.
General computer science understanding, including basic understanding of systems architectures and relational databases, with a basic understanding of programming languages such as PHP and Java a plus.
Experience communicating with executive level internal stakeholders and development teams.
Very strong critical thinking skills and ability to maintain a high level of detail across multiple projects simultaneously.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant experience.
