About Mr. Green Africa: Mr. Green Africa is a fast-growing startup established in 2014 in Nairobi, Kenya. We are a young, dynamic and committed team who believe in changing the perception of waste. We use technology along our value chain to trade recycled material while achieving tangible social and environmental impact. We currently operate in three counties and plan to cover all of Kenya by 2021. 


Job Overview:‚Äč Mr. Green Africa is embarking on an IT transformation journey to fully upgrade its existing IT infrastructure. The purpose is to implement an application network that will support Mr. Green Africa as the business expands. Your role will be to manage the project end-to-end, interact with and coordinate between the Mr. Green Africa team, the implementing partner Mr. Green Africa has selected and service providers.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project Management

    • Track and document project progress and monitor scope changes

    • Continuously improve project delivery through employing lessons learned

    • Assist with IT execution and other ad hoc duties 

  • Leadership Roles

    • Maintain an effective working relationship with team members at all times

    • Creating, supporting and maintaining a culture of collaboration, accountability, trust, and customer focus across functional areas

    • Provide mentorship and be a coach to all other team members involved in an IT related solution

    • Ability to narrate a compelling story about the problem you’re solving and the vision you’re reaching for, combined with the ability to dive into the details.

  • Technical

    • Work closely with business teams and our IT Solutions supplier to conceptualise, build, test and realise applications (CRM, logistics, payments, …)

    • Review wireframes and technical requirement documentation, break down use cases into development tasks and estimates

    • Explain technologies and solutions to non-technical team members

    • Troubleshoot and solve software/IT related issues for the new and current IT infrastructure

    • Advise on prioritisation of activities for every sprint, safeguarding the flexibility of the tools developed at scale

  • Relationship Building

    • Collaborate with SaaS vendors to enable the smooth deployment and maintenance of solutions

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve existing or implement new systems

    • Leverage relationships to mitigate and resolve risks and issues


  • Project Manager with min. 5 years of experience in a similar role. Demonstrated ability to manage IT projects with complex technology and multiple stakeholders

  • Active knowledge of front end technologies (e.g. Javascript, Python, HTML, CSS)

  • Familiarity with REST APIs integrations like JSON and SOAP

  • Ability to work independently, assume ownership of tasks, hands-on, detail-oriented  and with strong execution skills

  • Good communication skills both written and spoken with the ability to interact freely with people and also handle pressure and meet deadlines

  • Passion for innovation and use of technology to change business

  • Independent thinker able to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment

Ideally, you will also have the following:

  • Knowledge in system administration will be a plus

  • Knowledge of the recycling industry will be a plus

  • Previous experience in the supply chain management, logistics or manufacturing sectors

  • Proficient in the use of frameworks like Django, symfony, Jquery, angular JS, React JS
