Project Coordinator

The Role

Experienced Project Coordinator required to support in the managing of a project currently running in Nairobi, Kenya which is aimed at improving the livelihoods of small duka owners and their consumers. The candidate will form part of the Nairobi based team working on this program to deliver on project targets and oversee the roll out of new project elements in the coming year.  
The person will work closely with the Project Manager (based in the United Kingdom) to foster strong relationships with the client, the project participants and project partners with the aim of successfully rolling out the next phase of this program. 


  • Assist in the delivery of project outcomes with the aim of supporting the team to hit 100% of project targets

  • Assist in the management of the project budget, including identifying local partners who can create and deliver program collateral at a cost you will negotiate according to the budget which is allocated and signed off by the Project Manager

  • Build positive working relationships with our clients with the aim of improving program processes and turn around times on items which require client approval

  • Work with E1M internal experts and external consultants where appropriate to help devise successful strategies for each element of project delivery to the client's objectives and targets

  • Monitor the project's delivery using E1M's data analytics capability and user feedback

  • Support in the writing of month, end of quarter, end of year and ad hoc project reports to the client

  • Support in the creation of work plans for each project element at a detail according to their scale to be reviewed with Project Manager

  • Build relationships with pilot participants to understand their questions or concerns about the program and to educate them on pilot goals when required. You must be able to communicate relevant questions or concerns to the wider Every1Mobile team and work collectively with the team to address participant issues

  • Oversee the work of two Nairobi based community managers working on this project

  • Oversee the recruitment and management of an activation team whose responsibility it will be to hit the recruitment target of 500 new participants to the pilot program in the first 6 months of work

  • Initiate research to enhance pilot program and offering

  • Identify local partners who can deliver program collateral and negotiate costs to budget

Experience & Qualification Requirements

  • BA, MA or MBA graduate

  • 2 - 3 years experience in running projects in a strong corporate environment

  • Highly organised, self starting and efficient with excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent written and spoken communicator and a real team player

  • Excellent client facing skills

  • Hands on with project management tools, and Excel & PowerPoint to a good standard

  • Familiarity with a range of online and social media platforms and technology as all projects will be delivered on one or more online platforms

  • Experience in project management / project coordination

  • Experience in online media

  • Confident in overseeing the work of others

  • Confident in delivering when under pressure

  • Able to multi-task

  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili

  • Ability to brainstorm and present creative ideas to the team and clients

  • Writing and presentation skills are required

  • A willingness to learn more about mobile-friendly websites and the international development / social inclusion sectors

  • Confident working directly with clients

  • Prepared to travel around Nairobi and potentially out of the city to make visits to participating users and support on user workshops

We will be hiring someone on a 1 year contract base with a 3 month probation period. At the end of 1 year there will be the possibility of extending to a full time - permanent contract.
