This is a great opportunity to follow your passion and hone your skills by joining a growing software development team. We are looking for inquisitive, fast learning, problem solvers who are keen to develop software to help improve health outcomes.
Health-E-Net is an early-stage social enterprise committed to using innovative technology and business models to improve the delivery of health services. We are currently focused on the following innovations and projects in Nairobi and Turkana counties.
Gabriel is an innovative platform for delivering remote medical consultations. It allows healthcare providers in remote communities to share cases with remote physicians, increasing support for clinical decisionmaking. We are currently involved in 2 implementations of Gabriel:
The nREM project improves maternal and newborn healthcare in Turkana. Clinicians in remote facilities share cases with doctors in Lodwar and specialists further afield.
The SonoMobile project links Gabriel to mobile radiology devices. Images taken in clinics will be shared with Sonographers in larger facilities who will assist in providing diagnostic support.
Paper EMR is a novel, low-cost approach to clinical documentation using rubber stamps. Data entered on rubber stamps placed in paper-based case sheets is digitised and extracted using mobile phone cameras. The data is then available for further analysis. The current implementation is focused on improving the quality of care in private sector clinics in urban slums in Nairobi. It improves adherence to clinical practice guidelines for commonly encountered clinical conditions. Though use of Paper EMR, any gaps in clinical care (e.g. unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions) are identified and addressed by targeted continuing medical education (CME) sessions for care providers.
