BACKGROUND

The French Tech initiative was launched by the French government in 2013 to Promote French start-ups on a national & International level.
It is represented by multiple French Tech Hubs and Community, in France and Abroad.
The objectives of French Tech Nairobi is to gather different actors working in or for the French and the Kenyan tech ecosystems, and more broadly the East African tech ecosystem.
We welcome all players who are involved in the growth of the startup community (Entrepreneurs, investors, engineers, designers, developers, incubators, accelerators, Fab Labs, major groups, media, associations, public operators, research, etc.)

At the launch event on June 14th, 2017 in Nairobi, four priority actions were identified:
Organization of a local ecosystem to create synergies and promote collaboration between actors
- facilitate connexions between corporates, investors and Kenyan tech scene.
- Creation of bridges between Kenyan start-ups and French Tech scene
Offer Services such as mentoring, a network to support French startups to settle in Kenya, and direct Kenyan startups in France
Boost start-ups
- detect ideal candidates to acceleration programs such as French Tech Ticket, Startuppeur Total-French Tech
Be visible: Strengthen links with others African French Tech and Promote Kenyan tech ecosystem as a major Innovation Hub in Africa

WHY A LOGO CONTEST?
The creation of the French Tech Community in Nairobi is brand new and we need you to brand it!!
The logo will be used on all our communications

ELIGIBILITY + GUIDELINES
To be eligible, each entrant (individual only) must be currently residing in Kenya

JUDGES
The selection committee comprised of the board and the steering committee of the French Tech Community Nairobi will choose the best logo in September 2017 (members from Safaricom, Engie, Business France, Total, L'Oral, Sagaci Research, French Society in Kenya, French Embassy, Jumia Travel, Internet Society, Energy Access Ventures)

DEADLINE + EMAIL
Logos have to be sent before 30th September 2017 midnight at [email protected]

PRIZE
The winner will receive a smartphone Samsung S7 Edge offered by Safaricom, worth KES 84,999, and the runner-up a batch of hair products, offered by L’Oréal East Africa Ltd.
The winner of the logo design contest will be announced at the 2nd event of the French Tech Community Nairobi, to be held in October 2017.

COMPLETE RULES AND GUIDELINES

  • The purpose of the contest is to design a logo for the French Tech Community Nairobi.
  • The logo may be used in all media – including online, print, on merchandise and other visual collateral. Following are the official contest rules:
  • To be eligible, each entrant (individual only) must be currently residing in Kenya.
  • Entrant may submit no more than one entry.
  • All submitted work must be the original work of the entrant and must not include, be based on, or derived from any pre-existing or third-party designs, trademarks, or copyrighted images.
  • All entries will become the property of the French Tech Community Nairobi, and of the French Tech Hub Nairobi. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees that any and all intellectual property rights in the logo design are deemed assigned to the French Tech Community Nairobi.
  • An entry submission into this contest constitutes permission to use the winner’s name, likeness, prize information, and information provided on the entry form for publicity purposes, without further permission or compensation.
  • French Tech Community Nairobi reserves the right to modify the winning logo to better fit its needs.
  • The selected winner must submit a scalable vector version of the winning design so that it is adaptable to electronic and print media, to reproduction on small and large surfaces, and to use in color or in grayscale.
  • To be eligible, each entrant (individual only) must be currently residing in Kenya.
