Google’s Developers Launchpad, in partnership with the iHub, will be hosting the first ever Launchpad Start for startups from Kenya and Uganda in Nairobi from 28 November to 2 December 2016.

Launchpad Start is a one week acceleration bootcamp for early and growth stage startups focused on subjects including product strategy, UX and UI, technology, marketing and business developments. Our Mentors have been carefully selected to match these specific skills that the startups need to succeed.

The goal of this bootcamp is to provide startups with actionable, in-person mentoring to help them tackle critical growth and scale challenges.

Each day of the bootcamp will be dedicated to a specific subject and includes presentations, one on one mentorship and instructor-led workshops. At the end of the 1-week bootcamp, participating startups will have four key takeaways: an improved product strategy, an optimized Minimum Viable Product, a technical excellence plan and a viable digital marketing strategy.

The iHub has catalyzed the growth of the Kenyan tech community by connecting people, supporting startups, and surfacing information for the past 6 years. We believe that African innovation plays a critical role in shaping future technology globally. We have focused on connecting people to resources and opportunities that they need to translate their ideas and innovations to products and eventually successful enterprises. These technology tools, products and solutions can result in the creation of multiple new companies across the continent. We also are heavily involved in identifying and plugging gaps that we find in our ecosystem, with a specific focus on talent development and entrepreneurship.

We have worked to build resources and support structures for a local ecosystem of innovation. Over the past five years, we have supported many technology startups by providing a sandbox and access to resources for new ideas to develop into viable businesses. Several of these have gone on to thrive and scale, which could be correlated to favorable business conditions and access to resources. Google is a great partner to help us take this to the next level by funneling our support to a few of these companies to help the grow. We (Google+iHub) have a rich social capital and networks that we believe startups can leverage. This program will go a long way in supporting startups in the region.

If you have an early-stage tech-startup with a solid MVP and would like to connect with Mentors that can help your business scale, then register your interest here, and we will invite you to apply for the next Launchpad Event.
