I am writing this post without an idea on what docker is. If you are like me and would like to learn what docker is and how you can leverage it using php then join us during the next php meetup on August Tuesday 2nd at the iHub UX lab ground floor (Next to petes coffee) from 5.30pm to 7pm (Keep in touch in case the location gets updated).

During this session we will have an overview introduction on what docker is, how to get started using docker with php and the benefits of using docker.

What is Docker

Well, I decided to do some Googling trying to find out what this docker is and after afew minutes I have come to conclude that; (if not accurate please let me know and I can update the post):

Docker is a software solution that automates the deployment of applications inside software containers. Docker containers package your application in a complete file system that includes everything that the app requires to run. Basically the container includes the code, runtime libraries, dependencies e.t.c. This guarantees that the app will always run the same, regardless of the environment its deployed to.

That may beg more questions as to what are software containers and why do I really need them and I hope you will join us and we can get those answers together.

If you feel like me and want to have a better ideas on what docker is before the meetup, here's Docker in 5 minutes

This time please make sure to arrive in time (not 30 mins later) and bring a friend or a stranger, all of you will be welcome.

See you next Tuesday and if you have burning questions about the meetup or anything else start a conversation in the comments below and share this post in social media, email and post office if necessary, We need to up our attendance this time.
