The Data Science Jam is back! The iHub Data Lab together with Software Carpentry and Mozilla Science Lab is pleased to bring you the 2016 edition of the Data Science Jam. The theme of this year's edition is “Computational Methods for Unstructured Data”. The course runs from June 17th - Aug 2nd beginning with a 2 day intensive course in R offered by Software Carpentry on June 17th and June 18th (full day) covering:

  • The Unix Shell
  • R programming
  • Version Control with Git
  • Managing Data with SQL

The Mozilla Science Lab will be covering manipulating geographic data, visualization, command line tools and RMarkdown while the iHub Data Lab will take you through classification, clustering, text mining and data manipulation and transformation. These classes will be held daily from 5.30 pm to 7.30pm.

The course cost is Ksh. 35,000. If you are interested in attending the course, send a short resume/CV and an accompanying motivation essay (450 words or less) telling us why you are interested in a career in Data Science to [email protected] by June 10, 2016.
