iHub Research is pleased to host Okal Otieno, a Software Engineer at Ona Systems Inc. He’ll be giving a lecture on command line tools for data science. Okal insists he’s not a data scientists but a software developer and UI designer who builds data tools for a living.

The lecture will focus on tools for extracting, transforming and visualizing data on the Unix command line. Okal will demonstrate extracting CSV data out of a hosted PDF, and making useful visualizations of the data using an assortment of shell utilities.

Come and learn the beauty and simplicity of working in the shell. The event will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM (EAT) at the iHub UX Lab (Ground Floor, Bishop Magua Centre, Ngong Road). While the event is free, there is limited sitting capacity - kindly sign up here.
