April holidays are almost here! What better way to get the kids excited about that time of the year than this:Waza Experiencewill be holding its first Kids Hacker Camp event of the year on the 10th & 11th of April 2015. Waza Experience, an iHub Research initiative aiming to encourage active thinking and creativity in Kenyan youth. Waza effectively grooms the next generation into thoughtful technologists, researchers, and innovators, equipped with the “soft skills” needed to create better solutions for Kenya and Africa. By studying how to best infusecreativity,problem-solving/creative thinking, and communication skills into Kenyan educational curriculum development, we want to help make Kenya’s next generation of technologists even better equipped to adapt and innovate! Aimed at kids’ aged 10-15, this Oracle-sponsored event will train the younger ones in Alice and the older ones in Greenfoot. Alice will equip them with basic programming skills while Greenfoot will give them a footing in Java Programming language. If you have a child who has got programming basics down pat, they can train in Greenfoot. The Camp will take 2 days for the Greenfoot group and one day (10th April) for the kids who’ll be working on Alice programming. This Kids Hacker Camp benefits from a partnership with GEMS Cambridge International School. GEMS Cambridge International School - Nairobi shares core values with Waza Experience, especially astrong belief that students should belife-long learners and independent thinkers. GEMS Cambridge International School aims to"Lead through Innovation" and the school's holistic educational approachto learning is in strong alignment with the Waza Experience program. We are therefore happy to hold the 2015 KHC Programming Camp at GEMS Cambridge International School. Each day of theCamp will run from 9.30am to 4pm. Children have the option to be shuttled to/from iHub on both days for those who will need transport to the venue. You may also drop your child off directly at GEMS.
