NASA International Space Apps Challenge Weekend

This Saturday & Sunday the NASA International Space Apps challenge will be happening at iHub co-organized by GDG Kimathi University, GDG Nairobi, Nairobi JS & iHub.


People have a chance to use NASA data, work directly on NASA challenges and tackle projects that can have real impact on life on earth and in space.


Past projects have gone on to be used by NASA or have been turned into successful startups.


There will be a chance to engage with a NASA astronauts via Google Hangout, as well as the first black African Astronaut, Mandla Maseko who is an inspiring figure in many parts of Africa--showing what is possible for young people when they dream big!


Organizers and participants are welcome to adjust those challenges to the local context and local needs!


Projects will be judged at the global level by a NASA panel in 5 categories:

  1. Best Use of Hardware

  2. Best Use of Data to impact of life on Earth & space

  3. Most Inspiring

  4. Galactic Impact

  5. Best Mission Concept.

  6. A 6th award will be publicly determined in the People's Choice category.
