By Christine Mahihu Have you recently purchased phones or any other electronics online? Have you bought jewelry from your favorite vendor on facebook? Ordered those awesome shoes online? Ever wished you could purchase your favorite goods and services electronically? If you have and do, we want to know all about it! Mobile and online payments are quickly becoming a part of our lives. With the onset of mobile and online payment options such as PesaPal, Paypal, Lipa na M-Pesa, and online shopping platforms (OLX and Rupu), this sector is poised for growth. But how feasible is the uptake of these digital payment options? There is little information available on this growing segment of the African populations preferences, habits and behavior when interacting with e-commerce, digital money transfers and remittances. As part of our mandate at iHub research to support the tech field, we have launched a short survey in an attempt to examine the emerging electronic commerce space. This study hopes to explore the emerging trends and patterns in this space, with a view to inform practitioners, innovators and entrepreneurs on how to approach and even improve electronic transactions for you, the end user. In order to accomplish this, we will need your input. Please take a few minutes to fill out this 2 minute survey and be part of this exciting opportunity to inform e-commerce and digital players on your views and experiences. Findings for this survey, we hope, will adequately equip stakeholders with information that will eventually assist them grow the space with you in mind. Who knows, maybe in a few months/years you will never have to leave your house to get something as basic as toilet paper.
